Trina Storage marks a major milestone with 6 GWh of BESS orders across Europe, five years after its first contract on the continent.

6 GWh milestone strengthens Trina Storage’s European presence
Trina Storage, global provider of energy storage solutions and business unit of Trinasolar, has reached 6 GWh of BESS orders in Europe, just five years after signing its first contract. The achievement highlights the company’s rapid expansion since December 2020, when it delivered its first European project, a 50 MWh installation for UK-based SMS Energy.
More than 65 projects across key European markets
Since then, Trina Storage has secured more than 65 projects across the United Kingdom, Belgium, Estonia, Germany, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Portugal, Romania and Spain. Many of these developments stem from repeat collaborations, with customers selecting the company for multiple sites over time, reflecting the long-term performance and reliability of its storage solutions.
Among the flagship installations are over 30 projects in the United Kingdom, including Sandon Brook, Burwell, Tiln Farm and Boat of Garten, alongside Strübbel and Wetzen in Germany, Rondissone in Italy and Amyntaio in Greece. Over this period, the company has established long-term partnerships with clients such as SMS, Low Carbon, DIF|CVC, Aer Soleir, Clarke Energy, PPCR, Aquila Clean Energy and Stiemo.
Innovation at the core of Trina Storage’s growth
A significant share of this growth has been driven by continuous technological innovation, combined with a strong focus on project execution and customer satisfaction. The company’s integrated approach aims to ensure reliable performance and long-term value across the full project lifecycle.
After launching the original Elementa system, initially integrating third-party cells, Trina Storage introduced Elementa 2 and Elementa 2 Pro in 2024, more advanced and efficient systems using in-house manufactured Trina LFP cells. Building on this platform, Elementa 3 was launched in 2025, offering higher capacity, improved module energy density and enhanced safety features.
Expansion of the portfolio and European team
In 2025, the company further expanded its portfolio with Elementa Electra, an AC-coupled BESS solution designed for large-scale storage applications. The system enables greater control over delivery timelines, seamless integration with the company’s DC solutions and a comprehensive lifecycle management approach, from design to long-term operation.
Over the past five years, Trina Storage’s European organisation has grown from an initial team of eight to more than 65 professionals across the region. The structure includes dedicated sales and sales engineering teams, project management and project engineering specialists, as well as local service teams based within the EU to ensure proximity and responsive support. The company also maintains a consistent presence in Bloomberg New Energy Finance’s Tier 1 ranking for storage system providers.
Gabriele Buccini, Head of Trina Storage Europe, said: “Reaching 6 GWh of projects in Europe demonstrates the outstanding work of our European team, which has steadily expanded and shown consistent determination in securing new orders, delivering fully satisfactory projects for clients and enabling more stakeholders to benefit from our BESS technology.
We are proud of our role as technology leaders in the battery storage market, driven by the continuous evolution of the Elementa platform. There is still significant potential ahead, and we will continue refining and developing our technology, carefully listening to customer needs and adapting accordingly, with the aim of setting a positive example for the wider BESS sector in the coming years.”
Globally, Trina Storage continues to support BESS projects across major international markets. By the end of 2025, its worldwide shipments exceeded 20 GWh, reinforcing its position as a long-term and reliable partner for energy storage solutions.
