A new digital platform developed by ENTSO-E and DSO Entity brings together publicly available grid hosting capacity information from transmission and distribution system operators across Europe, improving transparency and access to network data.

Capacitypedia creates a European overview of grid hosting capacity
ENTSO-E and DSO Entity have announced the launch of Capacitypedia, a new digital portal designed to provide a comprehensive overview of publicly available information on grid hosting capacity across Europe at both transmission and distribution levels.
A single access point for grid hosting capacity information
Capacitypedia is a joint initiative by ENTSO-E and DSO Entity aimed at improving access to public information on grid hosting capacity throughout Europe. The platform gathers hosting capacity data voluntarily provided by participating distribution system operators (DSOs) and transmission system operators (TSOs).
Rather than replacing national publications, Capacitypedia complements existing resources by offering a structured overview of information published by different system operators, making it easier for users to navigate, compare and access available data.
A milestone for TSO-DSO cooperation
The launch of Capacitypedia marks an important step forward in cooperation between European TSOs and DSOs, strengthening transparency, coordination and knowledge sharing across the continent’s electricity networks.
The portal directs users to national webpages where the original hosting capacity information is published by the relevant country or system operator. It also includes an interactive overview map showing countries through colour-coded indicators that highlight the availability of TSO and DSO hosting capacity information within the Capacitypedia platform.
Country-level information and regular updates
Information is organised through dedicated pages for individual countries and system operators, allowing users to access data in a clear and consistent format.
The portal will be updated regularly to ensure that the latest available information remains accessible to stakeholders across the European energy sector.
Capacitypedia supports the EU Action Plan for Grids
The initiative was developed by the Joint Task Force (JTF), established by DSO Entity and ENTSO-E to fulfil the objective set out in Action 6 of the EU’s Action Plan for Grids, launched by the European Commission in November 2023.
The Action Plan calls on the two associations to create a pan-European overview of available grid hosting capacity, supporting the development of a more transparent, efficient and integrated electricity network across the European Union.
