Umberto Berardi

Professor at Ryerson University in Toronto (Canada). His main research interests focus on the study of building systems incorporating innovative materials and sustainable and smart cities. Author of over 100 articles in scientific journals and over 100 papers presented at conferences in over 40 countries. Included in the list of most cited Italian researchers in the category of Civil Engineering. President of the IAQVEC 2019 conference in Bari, the ICSDEC 2016 in Tempe, Arizona, and the ICSDEC 2015 in Chicago. He is the editor-in-chief of the journal Canadian Acoustics and has served as editor for many scientific journals. He directs a research center involving chemists, engineers, and architects. In 2018 alone, he secured research funding totaling nearly 1 million euros. Among other awards, he received the ISSNAF (Fondazione Scienziati Italiani in Nord America) award for Best Italian Engineer in Washington in October 2016.
